christopher paul curtis ses the wool pooh as a metaphor by saying its winnie the poohs evil twin brother.also he says wool pool instead of whirl pool . the wool pool is a sign of death to kenny.
I think Kenny decides to go behind the couch because he wants the powers of The Watson World Famous Pet Hospital to work so his deppresion goes away. I also think he did it because he doesn't want his family to see him that way and ask what's wrong
But Maria don't you mean that because of the magic powers behind the couch he hinds there and if he D.K. goes to the pet hospital it said in the story that the pet hospital was meant for pets if they get hurt or cut or something so he would be rather going to the genies
Well I think that he uses the wool pooh as a metaphore by using it to give you clues of who might be close to death.Maybe something in kenny told him to go to the whirlpool and that gave him clues of the bombing
I'm not sure I agree Ian. I know they fight a lot, it seems, but I think they have a great relationship. They all love and protect each other-seems like a great family to me. Do you always listen to your parents? I know that Byron made many bad choices, but do you think they still love each other?
Excellent question!! I think that after the bombing and Kenny feeling depressed, they've already started to make the relationship better. Byron is acting more like a brother and Kenny is feeling protective of Joey. Hopefully they will be closer now. I also think they might make their relationship better by depending on each other more and telling them that they love them.
I Agree Mrs.Newell,Before the trip and before the bomb, they used to fight and argue alot. But now they realize the cause of the bomb, and after the bomb almost everyone changed. They are more positive now.
They are more positive as a family-is that what you mean? I think they've seen the bad side of racism that they hadn't experienced as much in the North. I think Christopher Paul Curtis did a great job describing what it was like during the civil rights movement in the south. You can see how the bomb sort of destroyed Kenny, but at the same time, sort of brought together the Watsons. Do you agree or no?
Hi Tiffany, I am glad you are on the blog now. I think your comment got a little lost because we are working on Mixed Up Files now, but that's ok. I have read the book. I really enjoyed it and hope you will too!!!! There is an old movie, that I mentioned in class, and yes, we will watch it at the end.
I think that the Watsons became more thankful for each other after the close brush to death. Only when you lose something (or almost lose it in this case) do you realize how much you had.

ReplyDeleteI agree Selena.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think Kenny decides to hide behind the couch?
