In the thick of it...
We're about 1/2 way through "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler." I am so incredibly impressed with the discussions we've been having in class. The debate about Claudia's bravery or cowardice was definitely goosebumps worthy! Wow!!:) you have made so much progress this year! The mystery of why Claudia truly ran away is starting to unfold...and what about that Angel statue? Why would the statue seem so important to Claudia? Anyone care to answer? Come on, come on...you kin do it!!

why I think the statue is important to claudia because I maybe reminds her of herself when she was at home with her mom and dad and sibings. BYE
ReplyDeleteWell tiffany in one part i do agree with you , but in some i dont!!!! I remeber that in the video it said that MichelAngelo only focused in a beuty. I think that she might even thought about her mom or sibilings or dad when she was there. that was Jaime, she was feeling a little homesick. so she blushed thinking that it was here!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI wouldnt run away from home because i know it would hurt my parents a lot and they already have been through that and i know it still hurts them so it would be really mean me or my other sister would leave them it would be like loosing your most valuable possesion or the person that you love the most
ReplyDeletemaria i do agree with you .my mom only had 2 kids so my brother is 15 so he is young . also, that it will be mean!! it is like losing your valuable possesion . also it shows that you dont care if they suffer of woorriement i thing it will be very sad tho have your child run away!! they might think is fun to go out but,they might not know thir future it might be really hard they might be working at Market Basket!!! i want to be a dentist!!!
ReplyDeleteI would not run away from home. I tried it one time when I was little...I only ran to the back porch, but I remember how sad and worried my mom was. I would never want to do that to her again. Also as someone who wants to be a mom one day, I can't imagine my child ever running away. I would probably panic and search very hard to find them. Do you think that the Kincaids are looking for Jaime and Claudia? Would there be any clues to help their parents find them?

ReplyDeletewell tiffany, in someways i do agree , but in some i dont!!! it is because i remember when they were taking pictures and jaime got in a picture so if they buy a newspaper they might see their child in the picture!!! in a way i do agree because they do try very hard to not let people notice or their parents notice that their child is missing!!! also that if you want to be a mom and you have a baby and he runs away it would be very depressing!!!

But they just took a picture on the side of his face. But i agree with you because i would do the same thing if my child was missing i would panic like Mrs. Newell said. But..... I will probably faint because there is alot of danger in the streets.

ReplyDeleteI think the debate about the picture and the publicity it would bring is interesting. Be sure to think about your posts before they go up so that they make sense....like when we are having a discussion in class-you don't just blurt anything out, you think about it. Also, this is a class blog so be sure to keep it in school language...proper English-ok?
ReplyDeletei thought that the people from the newspaper hadn't taken the picture because when Claudia noticed that the guy was going to take a picture of jamie she pulled him away from the man and jamie got mad because before in their house he had been in a magazine and he took like 8 copies of it home so he was mad that he didn't get his picture on the tribune
ReplyDeleteMaria, you are absolutely correct. I think that Genesis and Tiffany were talking about "if" they been in the picture. What do you think about this...Why would uncovering the mystery of the statue be so important to Claudia?
ReplyDeleteMrs. Newell i am sort of done then everything erased!!!! aaaa!!!! well what i was saying is that what is the really the mystery in the book ??? i think that the mystery is the sculpture , because why would Claudia be so in to it?? i think that the statue might have something written in the back and the kids might be trying to figure it out!!!! or maybe the kids might have something with the mystery or maybe is in the museum..... also that i am little bit confused!! i dont know what the mystery is or maybe we have not got to the best part!!!. but do you think michelAngelo might of done something in propose ??? do you think MichelAngelo is a family member o f Claudia that is why it reminds her of her???

ReplyDeletehopefully yes so their parents can know were they are!! it could be like a fairy tale they lived happily ever after !!! also at the same time no because it might spoil the story that can stink alot ,also that they might both get homesick but for Claudia it might take a while , but for Jaime it might be to late!!!
i think that uncovering the secret of the statue is important to claudia because maybe she wants to show her family and friends that she isn't just a spoiled girl and she wants to them to see her capacities so they respect her more and see her as a mature adult and not a kid. I also think that's her whole point of running away also claudia said that she wanted to go back home a whole different person and not be the same old boring Claudia Kincaid.
ReplyDeletemaria i do agree with you but, i have something to add!! like she really ran away from home because i remember when in class we discussed about how the statue was so important to her!! so it might mean that she might of ran away to see the statue of MichelAngelo!! she blushed when she saw the statue and she wanted to protect it. lastly the athor reason she ran away is to learn more about the MichelAngelo statue and the museum!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI disagree with genesis because when she saw the statue Claudia began to wonder what the statue was and what it meant also when the kids arrived at the museum that's when the statue was first put there so it couldn't have that couln't have been. Also that's why Claudia asked Jamie if they could buy the newspaper because there they could find out what the statue was
